Joel Davies wins Andrew Symonds Award for League MVP

Sydney Sixers all-rounder Joel Davies has been confirmed as the recipient of the prestigious Andrew Symonds Award, recognising the Big Bash League’s Most Valuable Player for the regular season.

The award, determined by Fox Cricket’s expert commentary and analysis team, acknowledges Davies’ outstanding impact and consistency throughout the BBL regular season, where he played a pivotal role in the Sixers’ campaign.

Davies’ performances with the bat were a hallmark of the season, combining composure, power and match awareness to influence games at crucial moments.

His ability to perform under pressure and contribute across multiple matches set him apart as one of the competition’s most influential players.

Named in honour of the late Andrew Symonds, the award celebrates excellence, match-winning impact and all-round contribution to the BBL.

Davies now joins an esteemed group of past recipients who have left a lasting mark on the tournament.

Fox Cricket Commentator Isha Guha said the recognition was richly deserved.

“With nine votes, he’s had a brilliant season with the ball, with the bat,” Guha said.

“He will receive over in Perth, because the Sixers have made it through to the top four, they finished in second.”

The Andrew Symonds Award is presented annually to the player judged to have had the greatest impact across the BBL regular season, as voted by Fox Cricket.

Sydney Sixers will travel to Perth for The Qualifier on Tuesday, January 20th.
