Sydney Sixers fast bowler and Big Bash League legend Kane Richardson has announced his retirement from the KFC Big Bash League.
Richardson’s BBL career spanned 15 seasons and included a distinguished international career with Australia, during which he represented his country in 25 One Day Internationals and 36 T20 Internationals following his debut against Sri Lanka in Adelaide on January 13, 2013.
Across his Big Bash League career, Richardson played 118 matches for three clubs — the Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers — making a lasting contribution at each.
Richardson’s on-field achievements in the BBL are outstanding.
He retires having scored 3,296 runs and taken 142 wickets, cementing his place as one of the competition’s most respected performers.
Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes congratulated Richardson on an outstanding career in the KFC Big Bash League and across international cricket.
“On behalf of the Sydney Sixers, we would like to acknowledge and congratulate Kane on what has been a remarkable career in our league,” Haynes said.
“Although Kane has only been at our club for a short time, he leaves a lasting legacy. His leadership, experience and professionalism, both on and off the field, have been invaluable.
“Kane is a kind and hardworking individual who makes time for everyone around him and is a pleasure to have within the group.
“We wish Kane every success in life after cricket and have no doubt he will excel in whatever comes next.”
