Jessie could be the Sixers’ WBBL team’s biggest fan.
A born-and-bred North Sydney local and mad Bears fan, Jessie never misses a game at North Sydney Oval and takes her Sixers membership keep cup with her for every coffee she buys.
Jessie has watched iconic players like Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy come of age in Magenta and has loved every second of it.
“North Sydney Oval has just always been one of the best places to watch any sporting match. There’s always a really good atmosphere here — it’s just so iconic,” MacClaine said.
“I have been a Sixers fan since the introduction of the BBL. When the WBBL started, you already had that fan base from the men’s side, so you had people invested in the Sixers.
“The women came in and won seasons two and three back-to-back. They were the team to beat, and from that moment you felt like that was the pinnacle of the Sixers. Everyone started changing their allegiance — that was the team to follow, that was the team to beat.”
Jessie said she has seen the game grow, especially on the women’s side, and that her favourite moment at games is watching young kids get players to sign items between overs.
“My favourite moment in the WBBL is when you’ve got all the little kids just waiting on the boundary. North Sydney Oval is probably the best example, because you get really close to the players standing on the boundary, and then one of them runs over and signs your stuff.
“It’s just a really special moment.
“I think it’s just a really cool product to get involved with, even if you’ve never watched cricket before.”
