The Sydney Sixers are thrilled to announce fan-favourite Erin Burns has re-signed on a one-year deal for Weber WBBL|12, and will remain in Magenta this summer.
A foundation of the Sixers program since WBBL|03, Burns remains one of the competition's most respected and versatile cricketers.
The Wollongong product has built an outstanding domestic career spanning more than 15 years and brings a wealth of experience, leadership and professionalism to the Sixers group.
Burns has played 127 WBBL matches, scoring 1774 runs at a strike rate of 113.93, while also securing seven half-centuries and holding onto 65 of her trademark catches.
This extension puts Burns on track to play her 100th match for the Sydney Sixers in Weber WBBL|12, having already made 98 appearances in Magenta.
Last season, Burns made headlines around the cricketing world when she returned to WBBL action only three months after giving birth to daughter Nina.
Demonstrating why she is one of the most admired figures in Australian cricket, she balanced elite sport and motherhood throughout the WBBL season.
Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said Burns' contribution to the club extended far beyond the statistics.
"Burnsy [Erin Burns] embodies everything we want our club to stand for; she's an outstanding performer, a respected leader and someone who makes everyone around her better." Haynes said.
"Her return to professional cricket last season while balancing motherhood was incredibly inspiring, and little Nina and her son Jack have become such a special part of our Sixers family.
"Her contributions on the field, her mentorship of younger players and the energy she brings to our environment mean we're absolutely delighted to have her back for WBBL|12."
Burns said she was excited to return for another season with the Sixers.
"The Sixers have been such a big part of my life and career, so I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pull on the Magenta again this summer," Burns said.
"We have a great mix of experience and young talent, and I can't wait to get back alongside the girls and see what this group can achieve together.
"Our members and fans have always shown me and my family so much support and I'm looking forward to representing them again this season."
As the Sixers continue to build their squad for WBBL|12, Burns' re-signing adds experience, versatility and a familiar face to a group that will again feature fellow England internationals Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey.
