The Sydney Sixers sign young all-rounder Jake Scott in his first KFC BBL contract, on a one-year deal.
A product of New South Wales pathways, the 21-year-old secured a spot as a Local Replacement Player last Summer and has now earned his first full contracted season in the BBL.
Born on 10 January 2005, Scott is a left-handed batter and pace bowler who has represented Cricket Australia XI against England last year.
Scott earned his first professional cricket contract with the NSW Blues last year and made his NSW debut last week against Queensland at Allan Border Field, scoring an impressive unbeaten 52 off 39 balls to help secure a four-wicket victory. He backed it up three days later with 43 off 72 and figures of 3/48 with the ball against Victoria in Melbourne.
Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes congratulated Scott on receiving his first BBL contract.
"Jake is an exciting young player with a bright future ahead of him, and we're delighted to welcome him back to the Sixers," Haynes said.
"He's shown excellent skill and potential and we believe our environment is the perfect place for him to continue developing his game.
"We're passionate about providing opportunities for emerging talent, and Jake has earned this chance through his hard work and performances."
Scott said receiving his first BBL contract was a special milestone.
"It's an incredible feeling to sign my first Big Bash contract and I'm very grateful to the Sixers for the opportunity," Scott said.
"The chance to be involved again with a club that has achieved so much success and has so many world-class players is really exciting.
"I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can, contributing wherever possible and representing the Sixers this season."
