Local talent Frankie Nicklin earns maiden Sixers Contract

The Sydney Sixers can confirm local spinner Frankie Nicklin has signed her first Big Bash contract, joining the club on a one-year deal for Weber WBBL|12.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the state's most promising young talents, progressing through the NSW Metro system before earning a full contract with the NSW Breakers ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Nicklin made her Women’s Big Bash League debut for the Sydney Sixers during WBBL|10 as a replacement player and has continued to develop her game at state level.

The right-handed batter and spin bowler played an important role in New South Wales' successful 2024-25 Women's National Cricket League campaign, earning elevation to a full state contract last year.

Nicklin arrives at the Sixers fresh from an Australia A tour of India, where she impressed with the ball across both formats, claiming 11 wickets in five matches, including returns of 2/36 and 4/67 against India A.

Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said Nicklin's signing was a reward for her development and commitment.

"Frankie is a talented young player who has earned this opportunity through consistent hard work and strong performances across the Cricket NSW pathway," Haynes said.

"She's already had a taste of the WBBL environment with us and has shown a willingness to learn and develop her game.

"We're proud to continue investing in local talent and we're excited to see Frankie take the next step in her cricket journey with the Sixers."

Nicklin said signing her maiden WBBL contract was a special moment.

"It's incredibly exciting and something I've been working towards for a long time," Nicklin said.

"The Sixers are a club I've looked up to for years, so signing my first contract and having the opportunity to represent this team is really special.

"I've already learnt so much from the players and staff around the group and I'm looking forward to continuing my development, contributing wherever I can and making the most of the opportunity."
