Cricket NSW and the Sydney Sixers today confirmed that Rachael Haynes will step down as General Manager of the Sydney Sixers, as she and her family relocate overseas.
Haynes’ transition from the role will take effect in late October, ahead of the commencement of Weber WBBL|12.
Interim General Manager Hayden McIntosh will lead the club’s commercial, events and consumer-facing operations in the forthcoming season. He will be supported by CNSW Chief Cricket Performance Officer Greg Mail on cricket operations and high-performance matters.
Both McIntosh and Mail have been heavily involved with the Sydney Sixers for several years.
An interim leadership structure will operate throughout the Weber WBBL and KFC BBL seasons to ensure continuity across all cricket, commercial, and operational functions.
Recruitment for a permanent General Manager will commence in early 2027, with the club committed to finding the best candidate for the role in time.
During her tenure, Haynes has made a significant contribution to the Sydney Sixers and Cricket NSW, helping guide the club through a period of sustained growth and success.
Cricket NSW and the Sydney Sixers thank Haynes for her leadership and wish her and her family all the very best for their next chapter.
Departing Sydney Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes, said:
"Leading the Sydney Sixers has been one of the great privileges of my career.
“This club means so much to me, and I'm incredibly proud of what we've built together, on and off the field.
“Stepping away wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right one for my family as we head into an exciting new chapter overseas.
“I want to thank every player, coach, staff member, and fan who has been part of this journey with me.
“The Sixers will always hold a special place, and I wish the club and our teams every success for the season ahead.”
Cricket NSW CEO, Lee Germon, said:
"On behalf of Cricket NSW, I want to sincerely thank Rachael for her outstanding contribution to the Sydney Sixers and to our organisation as a whole.
“Her leadership has helped shape the club into one of the most successful and respected in the competition, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
“We’re delighted to appoint Hayden to the interim GM role. Hayden has worked closely with the Sixers for many years in his role as CNSW’s Head of Consumer and Venue Business and is well positioned to lead the club into WBBL|12 and BBL|16.
“He will be well supported by Greg Mail on cricket matters, ensuring continuity and stability across all areas of the club.”
Incoming Interim Sydney Sixers General Manager, Hayden McIntosh said:
"Rachael has been an incredible leader for this club, and on a personal level, a wonderful colleague and mentor.
“She leaves the Sixers in a really strong position, and it's a privilege to help carry that forward alongside Greg Mail over the coming months.
“Our focus now is making sure there's no disruption to what's been a really thorough preparation for the summer ahead, for our players, our staff, our partners, our members and fans, and we're excited for the season ahead starting with our first home WBBL fixture at NSO [North Sydney Oval] on Sunday 8th November against the Sydney Thunder.”
